Aspen Valley Hospital Partners with Summit Healthcare to Ensure Business Continuity and Address Downtime System Needs

Braintree, MA – Monday, October 17, 2011

Summit Healthcare, a leader in healthcare system integration and automation, today announced a new engagement with Aspen Valley Hospital, a 25-bed community hospital, to address business continuity and ensure system access in the event of a MEDITECH or network downtime. Aspen Valley Hospital (AVH) successfully implemented Summit Downtime Reporting System this fall.

As an award-winning facility known for its technical expertise and patient satisfaction, Aspen Valley Hospital understood the impact failed system access could have on delivery of care. In order to ensure uninterrupted system access to critical patient information, AVH needed a robust, secure continuity solution in place to capture patient reports and data for all hospital departments. Summit Healthcare’s Downtime Reporting System (DRS) provides access to crucial data immediately during scheduled or unanticipated MEDITECH system or network downtime.

“Quality care and patient safety is of the utmost importance at Aspen Valley Hospital and we needed to guarantee that our staff had access to all critical patient information should we experience planned or unplanned downtime of our HCIS system or network,” said David Bingham, Information Technology Director, Aspen Valley Hospital. “By implementing Summit DRS solution we feel confident that operations will continue smoothly during downtime.  This was especially important as we prepared for our Nursing units to go live with eMAR.”

With an ambitious new business continuity strategy, Summit Healthcare worked with Aspen Valley Hospital to bring phase one of the Summit Downtime Reporting System live for the Nursing units. With the Summit DRS in place, Aspen Valley’s clinical staff now has access to pertinent nursing medication administration reports, nursing censuses and active orders during downtime. The DRS solution captures the reports through an encryption method and securely distributes them to designated downtime machines in the hospital.

“Summit Healthcare is pleased to partner with Aspen Valley Hospital to ensure business continuity excellence,” said Ted Rossi, CEO, Summit Healthcare. “Our proven downtime reporting solution will provide the necessary access to crucial patient data in the event of a MEDITECH or network downtime.”
